NEW ORLEANS – On Wednesday, Oct. 28, to celebrate Public Radio Music Day, WWNO will host a benefit concert at the Broadside (600 N. Broad) from 5-7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 5 p.m. with music from 5:30-7:30 p.m.)
The event will feature performances by Helen Gillet and Leyla McCalla as well as Tank and Norman of Tank and the Bangas.
Tickets are $30 per person. All proceeds will benefit WWNO and its local programming.
“With the loss of federal funding one year ago, WWNO is now a public radio station that is 100% community supported,” said General Manager Paul Maassen. “We hope everyone will join us as we chart a new course of financial independence – put on your dancing shoes, bring the kids, and get ready to connect with your fellow public radio lovers!”
Benefest is presented in partnership with Friends of WWNO. More information about the concert is available at https://www.friendsofwwno.org/.
Major support for this event was provided by Art and Eyes with additional support from New Orleans Magazine, Bywater Bakery and Atchafalaya.
