The J Collection Brings New Orleans’ Haunted Histories to Life This Halloween

NEW ORLEANS — In a city shaped by centuries of history, mystery and legend, Halloween has always felt right at home. This October, The J Collection is bringing those stories to life across its New Orleans hotels and bars with a month of haunted histories, special events, Halloween entertainment, and a limited-time hotel package inspired by the city’s spirited character.

Guests can make a stay part of the celebration with Haunted Nights in New Orleans, a special October experience available at participating hotels within The J Collection. The package includes overnight accommodations, two drink vouchers, a limited-edition postcard collector set, two tickets to a New Orleans Haunted History Walking Tour, and late checkout based on availability.

“New Orleans has a way of bringing its stories to life, and Halloween gives us an especially fun opportunity to celebrate that side of the city,” said Anjelika Perry, Area Marketing Manager for The J Collection. “Many of our hotels have histories and legends all their own, so we wanted to create experiences that invite guests to discover those stories while also enjoying everything that makes Halloween in New Orleans so memorable.”

Those stories take center stage in Muffy’s French Quarter Frights, a new digital haunted-history series featuring New Orleans drag entertainer Muffy Vanderbilt III. Streaming throughout October on Muffy Vanderbilt III’s Instagram, the series explores the legends and New Orleans history behind four distinctive locations within The J Collection.

The journey begins with The Spirits of Cottage Four at Audubon Cottages, followed by Vampires on Royal Street at Hotel Royal, The Lost Bride at Dauphine Orleans Hotel, and The Spirits of Storyville at May Baily’s Place.

On October 23, The Rubenstein Hotel will host Halloween Movie Trivia Night, where teams can put their knowledge of cult classics and Halloween favorites to the test. Hosted by Muffy Vanderbilt III, the evening will feature costumes, cocktails and prizes including The J Collection hotel stays, bar tabs, Mardi Gras grandstand passes and more.

Then, on October 31, the celebration moves to May Baily’s Place at Dauphine Orleans Hotel for a late-night Halloween Costume Contest featuring Muffy Vanderbilt III, a DJ, drink specials, and the newly released Velvet Corset cocktail. Guests who go all-in on their costumes may receive limited-edition tarot cards inviting them to compete for the evening’s grand prize.

From checking into a historic hotel and discovering the legends hidden behind its doors to testing Halloween movie knowledge and celebrating late into the night, The J Collection invites guests to experience a spirited side of New Orleans, where the city’s storied past — and perhaps a few of its spirits — are never far away.
