Young Leadership Council Announces 40th Anniversary Reunion

NEW ORLEANS – This year, Young Leadership Council (YLC) is celebrating 40 years of fulfilling its mission of leadership development and civic engagement in New Orleans. While YLC has a long history of projects that have strengthened the city, the organization shares that its 40th Anniversary is ultimately a celebration of the people behind those accomplishments: the founders, alumni and members who have shaped the organization since 1986.

Spearheading the 40th Anniversary celebrations throughout the year are YLC Board Member Sydney Kastner, along with YLC President-Elect and Reunion Event Chair Elizabeth Eumont.

As part of the celebration, YLC will honor several of its founders, including Constance Barkley, Kenneth Beer, Robert J. Bickham, Janet Daley (Duval), Tripp Friedler, Chris Johnsen, John Landrum, Charles E. Leche and William Stahl.

“For 40 years, YLC has been shaped by the vision and dedication of the people who built it from the ground up,” said Sydney Kastner, YLC board member and 40th Anniversary Committee chair. “This celebration is a chance to honor every founder, alum, and member who has given their time and energy to YLC and to the New Orleans community. We’re proud of what generations of young leaders have built together and excited to see how future generations will carry that work forward in the city we are all proud to call home.”

The 40th Anniversary celebration will culminate with the YLC 40th Reunion, presented by EisnerAmper, on Thursday, Oct. 8, at the New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI). The Patron Party will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the main celebration at 7 p.m. YLC looks forward to welcoming approximately 300 alumni, members and friends as it celebrates four decades of developing New Orleans’ next generation of leaders.

YLC extends its gratitude to the many alumni who have returned to support this milestone year, whether by serving on a committee or sharing with young professionals how YLC shaped their lives.
