Flagboy Giz, Alexis & The Sanity, Mia Borders and Robin Barnes Join the LPO for a New Season of Genre-Defying Collaborations at the New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market
NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) today announced its 2026–2027 Market Nights lineup, bringing four distinctive New Orleans voices to the New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market for a new season of genre-defying collaborations. The series, in which local artists join the LPO for orchestral interpretations of their music, has been a hit with audiences over the years.
This season, the LPO welcomes multidisciplinary artist and Mardi Gras Indian Flagboy Giz, New Orleans pop duo Alexis & The Sanity, singer-songwriter Mia Borders, and “Songbird of New Orleans” Robin Barnes for four performances that bring the LPO’s musicians into close conversation with the artists shaping the city’s musical landscape today.
The Market Nights series continues the LPO’s commitment to expanding the possibilities of orchestral performance — creating space where the symphonic tradition can expand the sounds, stories, rhythms, and artists that make New Orleans unlike anywhere else. Each performance offers a different musical world, brought to life through collaboration with the orchestra at the intimate New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market.

FLAGBOY GIZ COMES “OUTSIDE” TO OPEN THE SERIES
LPO is joined by Flagboy Giz for the opening Market Nights performance of the 2026–2027 series.
A multidisciplinary artist deeply rooted in New Orleans culture, Flagboy Giz brings a singular artistic perspective shaped by the city’s traditions, rhythms, visual language, and contemporary creative spirit. Since his debut album in 2021, Flagboy Giz has exploded into a New Orleans phenomenon that has amassed millions of views and streams of his music. His seminal single “We Outside” is a modern-day classic that captures the spirit of the city. His appearance with the LPO continues the orchestra’s exploration of the many musical traditions that have made New Orleans a global center for innovation.
The collaboration promises an evening where the energy and history of New Orleans meet the expansive possibilities of the orchestra, opening a new season of Market Nights with a distinctly local voice.

New Orleans own Alexis & The Sanity join the LPO for an evening of genre-bending music at the New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market.
The project of longtime collaborators Alexis Marceaux and Sam Craft, Alexis & The Sanity brings a sound shaped by more than a decade and a half of musical partnership. The duo describes its music as “dark, electronic cabaret,” creating a distinctive space where pop, electronics, theatricality, and experimentation converge.
Their Market Nights debut offers the LPO an opportunity to explore another side of contemporary New Orleans music — one that is atmospheric, unconventional, and deeply collaborative. Together, the orchestra and duo will create an evening that expands the boundaries between symphonic music and the city’s ever-evolving independent music scene.

NEW ORLEANS SOUL-FUNK SINGER-SONGWRITER MIA BORDERS JOINS LPO FOR MARKET NIGHTS
New Orleans native Mia Borders joins the LPO for an evening where soul, funk, and orchestral color meet at the New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market.
Borders built her sound from the rich traditions of her hometown. She uses that foundation as the primary colors of her unique musical portrait. Her inspirations like Bill Withers, Irma Thomas, and The Meters are evident in her sound, yet Mia’s artform remains distinctly her own. This Market Nights collaboration offers an opportunity to experience familiar grooves weaving into new textures.
This performance is evidence of the LPO’s goal to have our stage mirror the melting pot of New Orleans and to highlight the dazzling talent of our city.

After joining the LPO for Holiday Spectacular in 2025, Robin Barnes, the acclaimed “Songbird of New Orleans,” makes her headlining debut on the Market Nights stage for an evening celebrating soul, jazz, and the unmistakable musical spirit of New Orleans.
Following the release of her debut full-length album, Louisiana Love, Barnes will display why she has the reputation as one of the city’s most dynamic vocalists, blending jazz, soul, and contemporary influences with a sound that is both deeply rooted and unmistakably her own. Her collaboration with the LPO brings her voice into a new orchestral setting while celebrating the musical traditions that continue to define New Orleans.

Presented at the New Orleans Jazz & Blues Market, the series creates an intimate environment where audiences can experience the orchestra alongside artists working across genres and traditions.
From the cultural traditions represented by Flagboy Giz to the dark electronic cabaret of Alexis & The Sanity, the soul and rock of Mia Borders, and the jazz-inflected sound of Robin Barnes, the season reflects the breadth of musical voices that define New Orleans today.
“New Orleans has never been a city that stays inside one musical box,” said LPO Executive Director Anwar Nasir. “Market Nights gives us the opportunity to celebrate that spirit directly — to bring the orchestra into the spaces where new music is being created and to build collaborations that could only happen here.”

Each Market Nights evening begins with a pre-concert experience at 5:30 PM, followed by music at 7:00 PM.
