NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice announced its 3rd Annual Warrant Clinic. In this free, one-day community legal services event, New Orleans residents can clear municipal and traffic court warrants, resolve outstanding fines and fees, and restore suspended Louisiana driver’s licenses. The clinic takes place Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Sanchez Center, 1616 Fats Domino Avenue. All services are free of charge.
The clinic brings Municipal and Traffic Court Judges, the City Attorney’s Office, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, and community legal partners into one building for a single day, allowing residents to resolve matters in one visit that would otherwise take months and multiple trips to court. Childcare, food, and bilingual assistance are provided on site.
Many participants had carried municipal debt for years, locked out of employment and stable housing by warrants tied to tickets they could not afford to pay.
“A ticket you cannot afford is not a crime; it is a debt, and I’m glad city leaders are coming together to address some of these issues,” said Jordan Bridges, Organizing Director at the New Orleans Workers’ Center for Racial Justice. “A simple ticket can turn into fees, warrant and a suspended license. With that you cannot drive to work, or move freely in your own city. In one day last year, we helped provide relief for 531 cases. We intend to do more this year.”
“We are grateful to the Judges, the Mayor and City Attorney’s Office, and the OMV for meeting our community where they are,” Bridges said. “This clinic works because public officials are willing to sit in a gym on a Saturday and do the work. “Every person who resolves their fees and becomes eligible for a license has a whole new range of jobs they can apply for on Monday.”
