LAFAYETTE – Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is thrilled to announce the public unveiling of its 2026 pin and poster designs. The official Pin and Poster Reveal event will happen on Saturday, September 12 at 5 p.m at the AcA during the Downtown Second Saturday ArtWalk. AcA, or Acadiana Center for the Arts, is located at 101 W. Vermilion St.
This year’s poster design comes from Lafayette-based fine artist Herb Roe, whose vision draws on our region’s rich and diverse cultural fusion. This aligns with the festival’s overarching theme for 2026, Revolution and Evolution: Celebrating 250 Years of Cultural Fusion on the Bayou.
Between living in his adopted home of Acadiana for well over two decades and working alongside Lafayette muralist Robert Dafford for 15 years, Roe has a strong visual understanding of South Louisiana’s cultural threads.
“I loved working on the poster image,” says Roe, originally from the Appalachian regions of Southern Ohio and Northeastern Kentucky. “It gave me a chance to revisit some of my work from ten years ago, when I spent a decade exploring the music and culture of Acadiana.”
Roe’s body of work from this time period explored the costuming and rituals of the Courir de Mardi Gras, the food culture exemplified in the ubiquitous and beloved plate lunch, and the traditional communal hog-butchering events known as boucheries.
The artist goes on to say that he’s pleased to incorporate some of his “newer, more pan-Southern allegorical sensibilities” within the poster design.
The 2026 Festivals Acadiens et Créoles pin and poster will be available for purchase at the AcA-based event on September 12 in Downtown Lafayette, and during the festival itself at Girard Park in Lafayette October 8-11.

Herb Roe was born and raised in the Appalachian regions of Southern Ohio and Northeastern Kentucky. In 1992, he received a scholarship to attend the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio.
In the summer of 1993, Roe met Louisiana mural artist Robert Dafford, beginning a long-term apprenticeship and professional collaboration that would take him throughout the Ohio and Mississippi River Valleys. As a Dafford muralist, Roe specialized in large-scale historical mural projects, often working in partnership with local chambers of commerce, tourism bureaus, and downtown development organizations. Many of these ambitious projects spanned five to ten years and included anywhere from a single mural to as many as 50 works within one community.
In 2007, Roe began pursuing his career as a fine artist, specializing in oil paintings that explore the history, people, and culture of his adopted home in South Louisiana’s Acadiana region. His most recent body of work expands that lens, drawing connections between his Appalachian childhood in Eastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio and his experiences traveling, living, and working throughout the American South.
