NEW ORLEANS – As independent restaurants continue to navigate rising costs and seasonal challenges, Savor the City brings the community together to celebrate the people and businesses that make New Orleans one of the world’s great culinary destinations.
On Thursday, Aug. 27, Savor the City returns to The Broadside as more than a fundraiser. The organizers share that this curated culinary experience allows guests to discover some of the city’s most celebrated restaurants while directly supporting the businesses that define New Orleans’ culinary culture.
“Savor the City exists because New Orleans cannot afford to treat its restaurant community as disposable,” said Anthony Cruz, restaurateur and Savor the City co-founder. “Restaurants are where this city gathers, celebrates, creates jobs, launches careers, and shares its culture with the world. This event is designed to turn public appreciation for that work into real support.”
Building on the success of its inaugural event, Savor the City has expanded its fundraising model through the addition of the VIP experience, the silent auction and significant sponsorship support from US Foods, Capra Lamb and the presenting sponsor: Subaru. Together, these enhancements are designed to maximize the event’s financial benefit for participating restaurants.
Guests will enjoy specialty tastings from participating restaurants, including Compère Lapin, Dooky Chase’s Restaurant, Saffron, Mister Mao and more, alongside live entertainment, the silent auction and opportunities to connect with local businesses and organizations supporting New Orleans’ hospitality community. Guests may choose between General Admission and VIP experiences, with VIP admission including early entry, exclusive culinary offerings and a curated wine tasting.
“People come to New Orleans for the food, but the industry needs more than praise,” said Joel Hitchcock, Paradigm Gardens/Savor the City co-founder. “It needs customers, investment, visibility and a citywide commitment to keeping independent restaurants viable. Savor the City is an invitation to show up for the people doing that work every day.”
Tickets are on sale now at $100 for General Admission and $150 for VIP. VIP tickets are limited and expected to sell out.
