Cathedral Montessori School Welcomes Rebecca Prosino, New Head of School

NEW ORLEANS — Cathedral Montessori School is delighted to welcome Rebecca Prosino as our new Head of School. Rebecca brings over 20 years of experience in education, beginning with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford before earning her Master of Arts in Teaching from Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Her career includes many meaningful years in nonprofit leadership at Sci-Port Discovery Center, Louisiana’s largest science museum, where she served as Space Center Director, Director of Education, and Director of Marketing and Strategic Projects.

Rebecca’s deep commitment to Montessori education began in 2014, when she earned her AMS secondary credential through CMSTEP in Cincinnati while teaching middle school at the Montessori School for Shreveport until 2019. Her Montessori journey has carried her from the classroom in Shreveport all the way to Como, Italy, where she lived with her family while teaching at Scuola Montessori di Como and the International School of Como.

Now, Rebecca returns home to New Orleans, bringing with her a heart full of experience, warmth, and her passion for joyful, respectful, hands-on learning.  We are so grateful to welcome her into our Cathedral Montessori family.

Remarking on her new role, “After 25 years away, I am thrilled to be back in the Crescent City!  It is an honor and a responsibility to contribute to the city’s culture, community and joy through Montessori-guided leadership of CMS.”
