City of New Orleans to Update Towing and Booting Rates to Match State, Schedule New Rates Take Effect July 27, 2026

NEW ORLEANS – Beginning July 27, 2026, the City of New Orleans will update the rates it charges for non-consensual vehicle towing, immobilization (booting), and vehicle storage. The updated rates bring the City’s fees in line with the Schedule of Prescribed Rates and Requirements for Non-Consensual Towing and Recovery Services set annually by the Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC), the statewide schedule that standardizes these charges across Louisiana.

The change follows an ordinance adopted by the New Orleans City Council amending Section 154-777 of the City Code, which ties the City’s towing, booting, and storage fees to the LPSC schedule. Because the City’s prior rates predated the current state schedule, several of the most common fees are increasing, while certain commercial towing rates are decreasing under the standardized structure.

The following changes take effect July 27, 2026:

Service Current Fee Updated Fee
Booting (immobilization) $121.00 $172.00 (flat fee)
Light Duty Tow $161.25 $228.75 minimum (1.5 hr),
then $76.25 per additional half hour
Medium Duty Tow $322.00 $335.00 minimum (1 hr),
then $167.50 per additional half hour
Heavy Duty Tow $455.00 $430.50 minimum (1 hr),
then $215.25 per additional half hour
