Louisiana Children’s Museum Launches Summer Programs

NEW ORLEANS – This summer, families visiting the Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) will find far more than exhibits — they’ll discover an entire season of hands-on experiences designed to get children moving, creating, exploring and learning through play.

Beginning this spring and expanding throughout the summer, LCM is launching its biggest lineup of recurring weekly programming to date, featuring everything from floating science adventures and outdoor ecology exploration to emotional wellness activities, classic games, creative arts and interactive storytelling.

Some of the most visual and engaging programs include:

• Life on the Lagoon – Families board LCM’s Floating Classroom to explore the ecosystem living within City Park’s lagoon through hands-on observation and life science activities.

• Take Care Tuesdays – A new wellness-focused series helping children explore emotional regulation, mindfulness, movement, and healthy habits through interactive experiences like “The Chill-Out Lab” and family fitness games.

• Water & Wonder – Young learners care for garden beds while discovering insects, herbs, flowers, and the importance of environmental stewardship through sensory exploration.

• Weekends in the Atelier – Open-ended art sessions invite children to experiment with paint and recycled materials both indoors and outdoors in LCM’s Studio in the Park.

• River Lab – Kids can shape rivers, carve valleys, and experiment with sedimentation tables to discover how water transforms landscapes.

• Game Club: Great Outdoors – Families unplug and reconnect through classic outdoor games, obstacle courses, relay races, and collaborative play in the museum’s Big Backyard.

• MathHappens – A nationally recognized interactive math experience transforming problem-solving into hands-on play through puzzles, challenges, and exploration.

Additional programming throughout the season includes toddler activities, scavenger hunts, earth science investigations, food and culture experiences, storytelling series, and nature activations designed for children of all ages.
