BB’s Stage Door Canteen Announces Summer Performances

NEW ORLEANS – Kick off the summer at BB’s Stage Door Canteen at The National WWII Museum this May and June with patriotic performances by the Victory Belles, the samba stylings of Carmen Miranda and a special summer evening of dinner and dancing with the Victory Swing Orchestra.

In this new show from the Victory Belles, audiences are swept into 1940s America, tracing the nation’s path from swing-era optimism to wartime resilience. Through iconic songs of the period, the Victory Belles reveal how music, legendary entertainers like Bob Hope and treasured letters from home lifted spirits and kept hope alive when it mattered most. Matinee luncheon, dinner experience and show-only tickets available.

Carmen Miranda: Samba in Technicolor

May 8, 9, 10, 15, 16 & 17

Experience the story of Carmen Miranda in this high-energy theatrical celebration of samba! This immersive show transports audiences to the golden age of film and music as Miranda (played by Cristina Perez Edmunds), backed by the dynamic Bando da Lua and vibrant dancers, reminisces on her life and career as the sultry star who broke barriers and crossed borders to mesmerize audiences around the globe.

Dinner with a Curator

May 19: “WWII in the Shadows: Espionage and Counterintelligence in New Orleans”

June 3: “The Bedford Boys and a Small Town’s D-Day Tragedy”

6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Dinner with a Curator is an evening of dinner and history hosted by The American Sector Restaurant & Bar culinary team and museum professionals. Guests participate in discussion on a featured topic related to World War II, which is interpreted through the museum’s collection and a theme-inspired three-course dinner paired with beverage specials. May’s event will uncover hidden stories of wartime spies and espionage in the Crescent City, while June’s will explore the profound sacrifice made by one American town during the invasion of Normandy.

Dine & Dance: Swingin’ into Summer

June 20 | 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Put on your dancing shoes and head to BB’s Stage Door Canteen, the only place in New Orleans where you can experience a live 1940s big band. This month, the Victory Swing Orchestra will be Swingin’ into Summer for a seasonal celebration! With smooth 1940s favorites like “Summer Wind” and “Moonlight Serenade,” you’ll enjoy a sultry summer evening of music and dancing. Tickets include a three-course meal and glass of wine.
