Historic New Orleans Collection Hosts 2026 Community Day on April 11th

NEW ORLEANS – The Historic New Orleans Collection (HNOC) is hosting a Community Day. Community Day provides an opportunity for families and individuals to engage with New Orleans music culture and history through interactive experiences, storytelling and art. Attendees will gain insight into the contributions of the music community to New Orleans while enjoying a day of fun and learning.

Presented in partnership with Young Audiences of Louisiana (YALA), Community Day features hands-on activities, gallery talks, story time and live musical entertainment.

Admission is free and open to the public; registration is encouraged but not required.

For American Revolution: The Augmented Exhibition, free timed-entry tickets must be reserved separately prior to the visit.

10 a.m.- 2 p.m.

10 a.m. – “Hear the Revolution” drum demonstration
10:30 a.m. – YALA presents Story Time with Baba Roscoe Reddix, Jr.
11 a.m. – Organ Demonstration
11:30 p.m. – Girls Play Trumpets Too (GPTT) under the direction of Troy Sawyer
12:30 p.m. – YALA presents Story Time with Briceshanay Gresham
1 p.m. – Gallery Talk with a Trailblazer featuring Dodie Smith-Simmons
1:30 p.m. – YALA presents Young Audiences Charter School Jazz Band
