NEW ORLEANS – Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. is pleased to announce that Donald W. Price has joined the firm’s litigation team as special counsel in its Baton Rouge office.
Price’s practice spans 37 years and includes representing both individuals and organizations in complex civil and environmental litigation matters. Prior to joining Stone Pigman, he served as special counsel for the Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, overseeing regulatory issues and coastal land loss litigation.
Price began his legal career at Dué, Price, Guidry, Piedrahita & Andrews in Baton Rouge, where he represented plaintiffs in claims involving motor vehicle collisions, medical malpractice, insurance coverage disputes and industrial accidents, often associated with domestic and international maritime operations. He also represented plaintiffs in environmental claims.
“Donald is a proven leader within the Louisiana legal community and beyond,” said Michael Walshe, chair of Stone Pigman’s Management Committee. “His experience and knowledge of litigation and environmental law will benefit our clients, and we are thrilled he has decided to join Stone Pigman’s litigation section.”
Price is actively engaged in professional associations at the city and state levels. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association and serves as a council member of the Louisiana State Law Institute, where he currently co-chairs the Torts and Insurance Committee. He also serves on the Amicus Curiae Committee for the Louisiana Association for Justice, where he previously served as president (2009-2010) and held roles on several committees, including the Council of Directors and the Board of Governors.
“I’ve been impressed with the high-caliber work and attorneys at Stone Pigman since clerking for the firm during law school in 1988,” said Price. “Returning to Stone Pigman at this stage in my career was an easy choice, and I look forward to continuing to build my litigation practice in Baton Rouge alongside our talented team of lawyers.”
Price has authored numerous articles in legal publications and delivered a wide range of CLE presentations for the Louisiana Association for Justice and the Louisiana Judicial College. He has been an AV-rated attorney by Martindale-Hubbell since 2012 and was consecutively recognized by Best Lawyers in America from 2011 to 2017, as well as listed in Louisiana Super Lawyers from 2007 to 2017. In 2012, he was named Medical Malpractice Lawyer of the Year in Baton Rouge.
Price graduated from the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif, and clerked for Associate Justice James L. Dennis of the Louisiana Supreme Court. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from LSU.
Outside of work, he enjoys international travel and spending time with his wife and two adult children.
