Alliance for Good Government to Host Info Session on Closed-Primaries Ahead of May Election

NEW ORLEANS — The Alliance for Good Government will host an informational session to explain the new Louisiana Closed-Party Primary Election changes and how it affects registered voters. This session will also provide context on the statewide elections to be held May 16, 2026.

WHERE: East Bank Regional Library, 4747 W. Napoleon Ave., Jefferson Room (1st Floor)

The Louisiana Legislature implemented Closed-Party Primaries through Act 1 of the
2024 First Extraordinary Session. Act 1 outlines a process for Democrats, Republicans,
and No Party voters to select a candidate to represent Louisiana’s two major political
parties for certain elected offices.

The Alliance’s goal is to promote good government, inform the public on current issues, and to aid all voting citizens regardless of political party interested in an effective and efficient government. For more information, contact Board Chair, Ramona Fernandez at ramona@loyno.edu.

The Alliance for Good Government is a non-partisan, 501 (c) (3) designated organization comprised of dues paying members in three chapters: Jefferson, Orleans, and St. Tammany parishes.
