NEW ORLEANS – The National WWII Museum announced it will host a special two-day symposium July 31 through Aug. 1 commemorating the 25th anniversary of the acclaimed HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers.” The event will feature appearances by members of the cast and creative team behind the groundbreaking series, including actors Frank John Hughes, Michael Cudlitz, James Madio, Ross McCall, Kirk Acevedo, Shane Taylor, Robin Laing and Rick Warden.
Based on the best-selling book by historian and museum Founder Stephen Ambrose, “Band of Brothers” chronicles the remarkable journey of “Easy” Company, 2nd Battalion, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, throughout the European theater of World War II. The 10-part series was brought to life in 2001 by executive producers Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, captivating millions worldwide with its authenticity and emotional depth.
Twenty-five years later, “Band of Brothers” continues to resonate with global audiences, honoring the courage and sacrifice of ordinary men who achieved extraordinary feats during the war — themes central to the mission of The National WWII Museum.
“Few portrayals on screen have brought the stories of the WWII generation to life as powerfully as ‘Band of Brothers,’ and it serves as a reminder of the profound responsibility we share in preserving and telling these stories,” said Michael S. Bell, PhD, executive director of the museum’s Jenny Craig Institute for the Study of War and Democracy. “We are thrilled to welcome the cast and creative team to the museum to celebrate the show’s 25th anniversary and ensure the legacy of Easy Company, and those the actors represent, continues to inspire for generations to come.”
The anniversary symposium will offer attendees a unique behind-the-scenes look at the making of “Band of Brothers,” including exclusive stories from cast and crew members and insights into the production process. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience firsthand accounts from the real Easy Company veterans through preserved oral histories. A highlight of the event will be a special meet-and-greet and signing session with cast members, whose lives have been profoundly impacted by their roles in the series.
