George Motz to Bring Hamburger PoBoys to Hot Stuff After Mardi Gras

NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday, Feb. 26, burger historian, author and restaurateur George Motz will bring his hamburger poboys to Hot Stuff for a one-night-only pop-up event.

Motz is the founder and owner of Hamburger America in New York and the author of multiple books documenting the history of the American hamburger. His work exploring regional burger traditions has also appeared on television, including as the host of “Burger Land” on the Travel Channel and through ongoing contributions to First We Feast.

At Hot Stuff, Motz will be making hamburger poboys inspired by New Orleans institutions like Camellia Grill. The hamburger po-boys will feature six ounces of griddled Schweid & Sons beef with American cheese and sautéed onions, dressed with shredded iceberg, sliced tomato, pickles, and mayo, served on Leidenheimer French bread.

The event will be open to the public beginning at 6 p.m. and will run until sellout.

In addition to cooking, Motz will be selling and signing copies of his most recent book, “The Great American Burger Book,” offering guests the opportunity to meet him and take home a signed copy.

The event will operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are encouraged to arrive early.
