Centennial celebration ties into Park’s signature spring fundraiser
NEW ORLEANS – City Park Conservancy (CPC) is calling on past and present athletes, as well as members of the community, to share their stories of athletics in the City Park. CPC will host Lark in the Park, the organization’s signature spring fundraiser, on March 13 at Pan American Stadium. This year’s event celebrates 100 years of athletics at City Park.
To commemorate this milestone, CPC is inviting former and current athletes, coaches, band members, cheerleaders, dance teams, and officials to submit photos and short stories highlighting their athletic experiences throughout City Park – from games and competitions to practices, rehearsals, and team moments across the Park’s fields, tracks, courts, and recreational spaces.
Selected submissions will be featured on City Park’s social media channels and shared with local media in the weeks leading up to Lark in the Park, as well as showcased on site during the event as part of a special City Park Athletics Hall of Fame experience. Submissions can be made here.
Lark in the Park kicks off the spring season and offers the community an opportunity to gather and celebrate in the heart of New Orleans. Over the past century, City Park has hosted countless sporting events – from high-school football games, track-and-field meets, and youth-soccer programs to adult leagues, professional-soccer matches, Olympic Trials events, and even the New Orleans Saints.
Submissions are accepted until capacity is reached – photos must be taken in City Park.
