NEW ORLEANS – Eyecare Associates (ECA) announces the addition of ophthalmologist Dr. Gregory C. Long to its team.
Dr. Long is a Tulane-trained ophthalmologist specializing in cataract surgery, LASIK eye surgery, anterior segment disease, glaucoma and general eye care treatment for conditions such as dry eye, cornea and crosslinking. With a strong foundation in academic research and medical education, he brings a wealth of clinical expertise in advanced vision technology. He will see patients at ECA’s Metairie and Uptown locations.
Dr. Long earned his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine and completed both his ophthalmology residency and internal medicine internship at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he served as Chief Resident. He is recognized for his leadership, dedication and research excellence through multiple honors, including the Tulane Department of Ophthalmology Harry B. Caplan Chief Resident Award, the Texas Heart Institute Journal Editor’s Choice Award for outstanding research and Tulane University’s Annual Award for Outstanding Research in Ophthalmology. His academic research spans a diverse range of topics, including surgical outcomes in cataract procedures and cardiovascular assist devices.
Dr. Long has authored peer-reviewed publications in journals such as the Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology and the Texas Heart Institute Journal. He has presented his work at leading conferences, including the New Orleans Academy of Ophthalmology and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation Annual Conference.
