Louisiana SPCA is Asking for Help to Clear The Shelters

NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana SPCA will participate in the 11th annual Clear the Shelters campaign, a nationwide effort to find loving homes for pets in need. Throughout the entire month of August, adoption fees will be reduced to help more than 100 animals currently in their care find forever families.

Clear The Shelters is a nationwide event, hosted by NBCUniversal in partnership with Greater Good Charities and Hill’s Pet Nutrition, that unites shelters across the country in a mission to find homes for every adoptable animal. This year’s campaign couldn’t come at a better time, as the Louisiana SPCA’s New Orleans and Plaquemines shelters have taken in more than 940 animals in the past two months, nearly one and a half times as many as were adopted.

As part of the 2025 Clear the Shelters campaign, the Louisiana SPCA will offer reduced adoption fees throughout August:

  • Puppies & Small Dogs: $210
  • Large Dogs (40 lbs+): $25
  • Underdogs, Heartworm-Positive Dogs & Foster Dogs: FREE
  • Kittens: $75
  • Adult Cats: $25

Those wishing to support the Louisiana SPCA’s ongoing sheltering efforts can give through the Clear the Shelters campaign, where Hill’s Pet Nutrition will match donations dollar for dollar each week, with up to $25,000 in total matching grants to the Clear the Shelters Fund.
