NEW ORLEANS — Preparing for the Next Storm: Free Workshops Honor Katrina’s 20-Year Legacy —Verizon and United Way provide critical resources for protecting families, homes and finances.
| WHAT: | In recognition of the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, United Way of Southeast Louisiana and Verizon are partnering to host a series of free community disaster preparedness workshops. These workshops aim to equip residents with the tools and knowledge they need to protect their families, homes and finances ahead of future storms and emergencies.
Attendees will also receive a free emergency preparedness that includes a hand-held battery-operated fan, whistle light/keychain, “Ouch Pouch” first aid kit, KeepDry waterproof bag and an emergency hand-crank radio. To register, visit bit.ly/2025DisasterPrep. |

These workshops are part of a broader resilience initiative between United Way and Verizon designed to strengthen community preparedness in the face of increasingly intense and unpredictable storms. |
