Applications Open for 2025–2026 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council

NEW ORLEANS — The Mayor’s Office of Youth and Families is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council (MYAC), a unique, interactive program that offers young people in New Orleans an inside look at City government while equipping them with the skills and opportunities to lead positive change in their communities.

Applications are available online and will be accepted through September 8.

Who Can Participate?

Final selection for MYAC is based on a review of application materials, an interview, and successful completion of the Junior Civic Leadership Academy (JCLA). JCLA is a three-session introductory program designed to prepare youth for active civic engagement. Admission into JCLA does not guarantee placement in MYAC.

Eligible applicants must:

• Be between the ages of 13 and 17
• Reside within the City of New Orleans

About the Program
MYAC members work directly with City leaders, engage in community projects, and provide valuable input on policies and programs impacting youth across New Orleans. The program deepens participants’ understanding of local government and empowers them to become the next generation of civic leaders.
