NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced the launch of the K20 Commemoration Website, a digital platform that marks 20 years since Hurricane Katrina and honors the lives lost, the strength of our communities, and the journey of recovery and resilience that continues today.
Available at katrina20.nola.gov, the K20 website serves as the official hub for information on events, reflections, and resources tied to the 20th anniversary of the storm. The site also offers a space for residents, community members, and City partners to share stories, access historical context, and learn more about upcoming commemoration activities.
“As we approach this solemn milestone, it is important to reflect on how far we’ve come as a city and to honor the memories of those we lost,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “The K20 site is more than a website — it’s a living archive of our collective strength, heartbreak, perseverance, and progress.”
Key features of the K20 website include:
- A timeline of Katrina and recovery milestones
- Information on City-hosted events and partner programming
- Community storytelling and remembrance opportunities
- Resources for education, volunteering, and engagement
The City encourages residents and organizations to visit the site regularly as new events and features will be added in the lead-up to the commemoration in August.
