NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans is taking another step in its mission to share the stories of New Orleans and its people.
Launched in 2024, City News is moving forward into new opportunities and is proud to announce Kourtney Williams as the new City News Manager.
In this role, Ms. Williams will bring her diverse multimedia skill set to amplify the voices of New Orleans. She will also spearhead new collaborations with local universities, creating paths for selected media program students to gain hands-on workplace training and mentorship in media communications.
In addition, City News will expand its reach by partnering with the city’s Hollywood South creative community to explore opportunities for content creation suitable for submission to the growing number of film and television streaming platforms.
The City of New Orleans is home to a rich resource of talented young people. It is vital that we continue to open doors to meaningful opportunities in media, entertainment, and creative industries.
The ongoing mission of City News is to connect with the people of New Orleans and showcase the city’s vibrant culture and diverse communities.
The City News team will be on the ground covering stories of empowerment and entertainment the week of June 30 leading up to the always dynamic Essence Festival of Culture. Led by Raven Frederick and Kourtney Williams, alongside Multimedia Manager Steven Martinez, the team is supported by Yasmeen Blake and producer-photographers Jovan Hernandez and Crystal Boa.
