Friends of New Orleans Public Library Bringing Used Book Sale to New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS – The Friends of the New Orleans Public Library are taking their used book sales on the road, bringing book bargains to the East New Orleans Regional Library on Saturday, June 21. The sale is open to the public from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Organizers note cash, cards, and Venmo are accepted.

The nonprofit is offering a wide selection of gently used books at low prices, including children’s books and local interest titles, according to Executive Director Shannan Cvitanovic. “This sale is a perfect opportunity to stock up on summer reading material for less  while supporting the library.”

Since 1957, the Friends have helped fund Library services, programs, and resources like the  Summer Fun & Reading Challenge. All proceeds from the sale will benefit this work.

Book prices will begin at $2 for all children’s books, with most titles available for $4 or less. The Friends plan on having books for all tastes, from biography and history to fiction and romance.

“The best advice I can give you is to bring your own big tote bag,” said Cvitanovic. “You’ll come for a few books for your kids, but will end up with a cookbook, a travel guide, a novel you had been meaning to read, and a few other things that you didn’t even know you needed. We can’t wait to see what books people take home.”

Where: East New Orleans Regional Library, 5641 Read Blvd. (sale held indoors)

When: Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
