Louisiana Children’s Museum to Announce $2.5M Endowment and New Exhibit

NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana Children’s Museum (LCM) will host a press conference on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 11 a.m. to unveil transformative new programming and a major exhibit thanks to a $2.5M gift from Lilly Endowment Inc. The milestone announcement will set forth a new chapter in the Museum’s growth.

The event will take place at the Louisiana Children’s Museum, City Park New Orleans, at 15 Henry Thomas Dr., New Orleans, LA 70124.

In attendance will be Tifferney White, CEO, LCM; Amanda Shackelford, executive director, Louisiana Youth for Excellence, Office of the Governor; Diane Hollis, regional representative Office of Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser; Joe Giarrusso, New Orleans City Council, District A; Michael Hecht, president and CEO, GNO, Inc.; Walt Leger, president and CEO, New Orleans & Company; Michael H. Schmidt, board president, LCM; Elected officials 

Since 1986, LCM has been the local leader in children’s education, empowering New Orleans’ young people to learn through exploration and discovery. This endowment, the largest non-capital gift in LCM’s history, will expand the Museum’s role in uplifting a new generation of learners as the institution approaches its 40th anniversary.
