Louisiana Policy Institute for Children Welcomes Lois Smyth as Chief of Development

Smyth brings two decades of expertise in philanthropy to LPIC’s mission

BATON ROUGE  – The Louisiana Policy Institute for Children (LPIC) proudly announces Lois Smyth as its new Chief of Development. Smyth, a seasoned professional with nearly 20 years in the non-profit and philanthropy sectors, will lead LPIC’s development efforts, enhancing fundraising strategies and fostering relationships with donors and partners.

“Lois’s extensive background in donor relations and major gifts makes her an exceptional addition to our team,” said Libbie Sonnier, Ph.D., CEO of LPIC. “Her dedication to community engagement and resource development will help propel our initiatives forward as we continue advocating for Louisiana’s youngest children.

Before joining LPIC, Smyth served as Vice President of Major Gift and Donor Relations at the Capital Area United Way. Her previous roles include more than 15 years at the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, where she excelled as a Senior Program Officer and Director of Donor Services. Throughout her career, Smyth has demonstrated a remarkable ability to cultivate impactful partnerships and secure vital funding for non-profit organizations.

“I am excited to join the Louisiana Policy Institute for Children team and contribute to its vital mission,” said Smyth. “The work being done is crucial for the future of Louisiana’s children, and I look forward to leveraging my experience to support and expand efforts.”

As a Baton Rouge native, Smyth brings a deep understanding of the local philanthropic landscape, which she will apply to strengthen LPIC’s development initiatives.
