NEW ORLEANS — For the fifth year in a row, the City of New Orleans Health Department (NOHD), in partnership with the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale and New Orleans East Hospital (NOEH) will host a free flu shot event to protect residents before the holiday season.
“The Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale (MKFF) is always proud to partner with the New Orleans Health Department to help protect our families against the flu. As we enter into flu season, we know that vaccines provide the best chance for us to keep our Femmes, families, and community members out of the hospital. MKFF is more than a Mardi Gras Krewe, and we are excited to help promote the health and wellness of our community,” said Kimberly Early, President and Founding Member of the Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale.
Like in years past, this annual event will be held at the Joe Brown Park Recreation Center (gymnasium) located at 5601 Read Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70126, on Saturday, November 9, from 10 am to 2 pm. Spanish and Vietnamese interpreters will be available on-site. No-cost flu vaccines will be available for adults and children as young as 6 months of age; no identification or health insurance is required.
NOHD strongly encourages residents 6 months and older to get vaccinated if they haven’t already done so. Minors under the age of 18 require parental/caregiver consent to get the shot. While this event will only offer flu vaccines, we highly encourage families to receive their COVID-19 boosters.
