NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced the launch of a new initiative funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that will train local residents as Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certified Commercial Drone Operators. This will offer hands-on experience in industries such as agriculture, pest control, forestry, and building maintenance. This program will create new jobs, promote economic growth, and integrate drone technology into local businesses to improve service efficiency.
To learn more, a virtual information session will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. which will provide additional details about the program, its benefits, who qualifies to participate, and information regarding official training that will take place in December. Upon completion of training, participants will learn about drone operations, regulations, and safety, while gaining real-world experience through internships.
The initiative aims to strengthen the workforce and address growing demand for drone services in key sectors. Additionally, the program will explore innovative uses of drone technology, including drone light shows, opening new opportunities in entertainment.
