‘Evenings with Enrique’ Returns April 3rd at The New Orleans Botanical Garden

NEW ORLEANS – City Park Conservancy and The Helis Foundation announce the return of Evenings with Enrique at the New Orleans Botanical Garden starting April 3Free for Louisiana residents courtesy of The Helis Foundation, Evenings with Enrique occurs every Wednesday in April and October at the New Orleans Botanical Garden. Visitors revel in the extended garden hours through 8 p.m. while listening to the lively beats of some of the best local Latin American artists and ensembles among the Garden’s abundant landscape.

5 – 7 p.m.: Christina Kaminis Quintet

April 10
5 – 7 p.m.: Patrice Fisher and Arpa with special guests Margie Perez and Omar Ramirez

April 17
5 – 7 p.m. Fermin Ceballos and Merengue

April 24
5 – 7 p.m.: Bruno Elisabetsky and Sincopado

FOOD:              Culinary creations served by Chef Pat White will be available for purchase at the                      outdoor Kitchen in the Garden.

Launched in 2016, Evenings with Enrique is a bi-annual concert series held every April and October. The series pays tribute to renowned Mexican artist, Enrique Alférez who lived in New Orleans for almost 70 years and made a profound contribution to the New Orleans art scene. Alférez has over 20 works of art featured at The Helis Foundation Enrique Alférez Sculpture Garden inside the New Orleans Botanical Garden. His sculptures can also be found throughout New Orleans at Ogden Museum of Southern ArtNew Orleans Museum of ArtPoydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition and New Orleans City Park.

Admirers of Alférez’s work can purchase Enrique Alférez: Sculptor by Katie Bowler Young at the Botanical Garden giftshop. Published by The Historic New Orleans Collection, the book chronicles the life of the preeminent artist and was made possible with support from The Helis Foundation and members of The Historic New Orleans Collection’s 2019 Bienville Circle and Laussat Society.

Throughout the year, The Helis Foundation provides free admission on select days for Louisiana residents via its Art for All initiative to several of New Orleans most beloved cultural institutions including the New Orleans Botanical Garden, New Orleans Museum of Art, Contemporary Art Center New Orleans, Ogden Museum of Southern Art and Louisiana Childrens Museum.
