NEW ORLEANS – The Riverwalk Outlets is spreading holiday cheer this season with a multitude of festive family-friendly events. From holiday choirs serenading shoppers to exclusive holiday movie screenings on Spanish Plaza, Riverwalk Outlets is helping locals and tourists alike soak in the holiday spirit. The events kick off on Nov. 21 with the Riverwalk’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on Spanish Plaza.
“Riverwalk Outlets is proud to continue our tradition of kicking off the holiday season in Downtown New Orleans with our annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony,” said Yvette Gremillion-Watkins, general manager at Riverwalk Outlets. “We cannot wait to welcome guests for some festive downtown fun with complimentary community events throughout the holiday season.”
Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony
On Tuesday, Nov. 21, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., join Riverwalk Outlets for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. During this ceremony, a beautifully decorated 30-foot tree will be illuminated to mark the beginning of the holiday season. Guests will enjoy the sounds of the Abramson Sci Academy High School Band, a beignet and beverage voucher from Café Du Monde, special appearances from Santa and his friends and an opportunity to purchase an exclusive keepsake photo by The Picture People. In collaboration with the Downtown Development District, this event will culminate in the lighting of Downtown New Orleans.
Holiday Sip and Shop
Tuesdays in December, shoppers will be able to participate in an exclusive holiday Sip and Shop event. Taking place Dec. 5, 12 and 19 from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. customers can enjoy a free glass of wine from Nola Tropical Winery at Riverwalk Outlets. Attendees must be 21+ to participate.
Chanukah at the Riverwalk
On Thursday, Dec. 7 Riverwalk Outlets is partnering with Chabad-Lubavitch of Louisiana for Chanukah at the Riverwalk. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the event presented at Spanish Plaza by Chabad-Lubavitch includes the lighting of a giant Menorah in honor of the beginning of Chanukah. The event will feature live traditional Jewish music and kosher cuisine, along with complimentary delicious latkes, Jewish gelt (chocolate candy), dreidels (toys), crafts and more for the whole family.
Photos with Santa
Come and meet Santa at Riverwalk Outlets, beginning Black Friday (Nov. 24) and happening every Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Dec. 31. Riverwalk guests will have the opportunity to get their photo taken by The Picture People with Santa. Photos will take place inside Riverwalk Outlets on Level B across from the Ralph Lauren store during mall hours.
Movies Under the Stars on Spanish Plaza
On Saturday, Dec. 9 and Dec. 16 from dusk till 8 p.m. bring the entire family out for a special holiday movie on Spanish Plaza. Complimentary popcorn and cotton candy will be available along with Selfies with Santa under the Riverwalk’s Christmas Tree.

Riverwalk Outlets Magical Christmas Arts & Craft Show
On Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Riverwalk guests can enjoy a variety of art and craft vendors out on Spanish Plaza for some last-minute holiday shopping. Guests can also stay to enjoy Riverwalk’s Movie Under the Stars showing of The Polar Express.
In addition to events, the Riverwalk’s 75+ retailers will also be offering special deals throughout the holiday season. Make sure to stop by for all of those holiday shopping list items.
Holiday Choirs
Throughout December, Riverwalk shoppers will be serenaded with the sounds of the holidays by local school choirs from the Greater New Orleans area.
