Gris-Gris, Saint John Announce Mangé Loa Holiday Menus

NEW ORLEANS – Gris-Gris and Saint John are celebrating the holidays Voodoo-style with their annual Mangé Loa Holiday Menus! Mangé Loa – meaning ‘the feeding of the Gods’ – is a Voodoo ceremony and large annual feasting of the gods (‘loa’) featuring a variety of animal offerings, drinks, desserts and more. Followers of Voodoo believe the powers of all loa are lifted to their highest potential during this celebration.

The three-course pre-fixe menus will be available Dec. 1-24 (dinner service only). Full menu details for both restaurants are included below.

Saint John Mangé Loa Holiday Menu

Three Courses $75++ (includes Holiday cocktail)

+ Optional Wine Pairing $35

Menu:

·         HOLIDAY COCKTAIL: Old Haitian (Rhum Agricole, Louisiana cane syrup, Fresh Lime, Bitters and Champagne)

·         FIRST COURSE: Kreyòl Salad (Mixed Greens, toasted pistachios, heirloom tomatoes, roasted beets, whipped goats’ cheese and balsamic glaze).

·         SECOND COURSE: Epis Marinated Lamb Rack (Black mushroom rice, pikliz, garlic lime wasakaka sauce).

·         THIRD COURSE: Haitian Orange Cake (Buttered rhum orange cake with nutmeg and confectioner’s sugar).

Menu:

·         FIRST COURSE (select one): Black Eyed Pea Salad (Collard Greens, Bacon Lardon, Steen’s Sugar Cane Vinaigrette with Warm Flatbread) or Chicken and Andouille Gumbo (Paroisse de Vermillion-Inspired with Louisiana Popcorn Rice).

·         SECOND COURSE: Stuffed Mississippi Quail (Andouille Cornbread Dressing, Crispy Potato Pavé, Mushroom Demi-Glace).

·         THIRD COURSE (select one): Sweet Potato Pudding (Roasted Yams, Brûléed Marshmallow Puff with Candied Pecans) or Butter Pecan Pie (Amaretto Chocolate Ganache, Graham Cracker Crust with Chantilly Whipped Cream).
