NEW ORLEANS – As the world gears up for Giving Tuesday, Beloved Community announces the start of its ‘A Season of Giving’ campaign, a period marked by reflection on the substantial strides made over the past fiscal year. This initiative is a testament to Beloved Community’s unwavering dedication to fostering equity and inclusion across regions.
A Year of Groundbreaking Achievements
Beloved Community has spearheaded several pivotal projects over the past fiscal year, significantly advancing its mission. Notable accomplishments include:
NOLA C.A.R.E.S.: Backed by a $5 million grant from JPMorgan Chase & Co., this initiative has made monumental strides in addressing a critical gap in New Orleans. NOLA C.A.R.E.S. stands as a pillar of support for Black and Latinx women working in the early childhood sector, expanding access to affordable childcare. This initiative is more than just a program; it’s a movement igniting economic empowerment and creating sustainable opportunities for women who are the backbone of the community.
Equity in Schools Cohort Model: In collaboration with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, this initiative has united eight key organizations, including four large districts and four charter networks. These partnerships have culminated in the creation of impactful Equity Work Plans, with a commitment to fostering an inclusive and culturally responsive educational environment for educators and students of color. This model is a beacon of hope, paving the way for a more equitable future in education.
AWA by Beloved: The innovative launch of AWA by Beloved, a comprehensive Equity Audit tool, has been a cornerstone in advancing DEI assessment and planning. This platform has aided nearly 580 individuals across 70 organizations in their DEI journey, creating a wave of change across multiple sectors.
Expansive Influence: The Equity Tool Suite from Beloved Community has seen remarkable uptake, with 138 organizations completing the Equity Lens Map, and 107 organizations undertaking Equity Audits. Beloved Community’s influence has expanded across 19 cities, 22 states, and 3 countries, solidifying its role as a leader in promoting equity and inclusivity.
