NEW ORLEANS — The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) has been selected as Museum of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Museums (LAM), a designation that celebrate the institution’s unwavering commitment to the community through outstanding professionally conceived and executed programming. The award was presented during the organization’s annual conference Monday, Sept. 11, at Southern University of New Orleans.
“Being recognized by the Louisiana Association of Museum as Museum of the Year is a testament to the pivotal role and steadfast dedication The Historic New Orleans Collection plays in preserving and celebrating the unique history of New Orleans,” said THNOC Director of Institutional Advancement, Heather Hodges.
THNOC’s education specialist, Kendric Perkins, also received the LAM Sadie Roberts-Joseph Excellence in Community outreach award, acknowledging his outstanding work in the area of transformative educational programming that has positively affected the community.
“Kendric’s remarkable efforts to actively engage with the local community and to foster inclusivity by promoting accessibility to our educational resources is what brings history to life for thousands of students each year,” said Hodges.
