NEW ORLEANS – Crescent City Stage, New Orleans critically acclaimed professional theatre, finishes its 2023 programming with the regional premiere of Patrick Barlow’s new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol at the Loyola Marquette Theater. The show will run from Dec. 7 to Dec. 21 with evening performances at 7:30pm and matinees at 2:30 pm. Tickets for the show are on sale now.
A Christmas Carol stars Bernard White as Scrooge, joined by a supporting cast including LeBaron Thornton, Erin Cessna, Eleanor Humphrey, and Ryan Reilly. White is capable of taking on a wide variety of roles, as evidenced by a career that has stretched across decades and includes countless appearances onstage, and in movies and television. The production is directed by CCS Executive Director Michael A. Newcomer.
Patrick Barlow, writer of the hit The 39 Steps, has retold Charles Dickens’ holiday classic in a thrilling adaptation using only five actors. From Scrooge and Tiny Tim to Bob Cratchit and Mr. Fezziwig, Barlow’s A Christmas Carol uses nothing more than some simple props, fresh physicality, and the power of imagination to convey this timeless story of redemption.
