Memorial ceremony observes its 22nd year with candlelight vigil service

METAIRIE — In honor of National Police Week, the Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers Memorial (LLEOM) will host its 22nd annual candlelight vigil and memorial service at their Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers Memorial monument in Metairie Cemetery on Wednesday, May 10.

During the service, surviving family members will be recognized and presented with a token of remembrance in honor of their loved one. Before the service, the Louisiana Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors will hold a reception for the survivors, where previous years’ survivors will be available to help support the families and friends of the fallen officers.

The ceremony, inspired by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington D.C., was established by the late New Orleans Police Department Sergeant Ron Cannatella to recognize the service and sacrifice of the more than 400 Louisiana law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty since 1870.

LLEOM is a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the lives and memories of Louisiana police officers, deputy sheriffs, state troopers, correctional officers and federal agents killed in the line of duty.

The following officers will be memorialized on Wednesday evening:
