From Underground to Undergrowth – Bodega New Orleans Celebrates First Pop-up Restaurant on Magazine Street

NEW ORLEANS — Leading up to its new brick-and-mortar location Uptown, Bodega New Orleans is launching a pop-up restaurant in the Undergrowth Coffee café and roastery at 4322 Magazine Street. Bodega@Undergrowth is a limited-time dining collaboration that showcases highlights from Bodega New Orleans’ lunch menu, with unique beverage pairings from Uptown’s best coffee roasters. For three weeks in May on Thursdays and Sundays (11AM-4PM), diners can taste some delicious and nutritious pairings.

Due to the rescheduling of its brick-and-mortar grand opening at 3633 Annunciation Street, Chef/Owner Jaryd Kase of Bodega New Orleans found opportunity for collaboration with fellow New York transplant Alyssa Johnson of Undergrowth Coffee.

Following the success of Bodega New Orleans’ pickup, delivery, and catering options, spread through social media and word of mouth, Jaryd Kase is showcasing his soon-to-be lunch menu, offering the Cabo Chicken Sandwich, Seared Tuna BLT, Chimichurri Steak Sandwich, and Cola-Braised Chicken Tacos. Undergrowth Coffee will have their full beverage menu available, including thoughtfully paired beverages for each pop-up item.

“Just like New Orleanians, New Yorkers have a habit of finding each other in their adopted homes,” said Kase. “Undergrowth has quietly become a powerhouse for coffee aficionados in the area and we hope that we’ve done the same for families who want to eat good food but don’t have the time to cook it.”

“This is the first of many collaborations,” said Alyssa Johnson of Undergrowth Coffee. “We look forward to adding our selections to their retail section in the future and incorporating our coffee into some of their recipes.”

Bodega New Orleans’ rescheduled shop opening will be in June inside the former site of Barcia’s Grocery Uptown near Tchoupitoulas.
