City of New Orleans Celebrates 170th Anniversary of Gallier Hall

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans announced that on Saturday, May 20, it will celebrate the 170th anniversary of Gallier Hall, the first City Hall serving as the City’s government hub for over a century.

“Gallier Hall was the first City Hall in the City of New Orleans, and it has been a priority for me and my team to open up this historic facility for events and activities to the public so that they see the asset that we have,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “When we talk about maintaining our assets, I want everyone to witness how we are pivoting towards improving the quality of the environment of public facilities.”

To commemorate the anniversary of Gallier Hall’s dedication, the building will be open to the public for self-guided tours this Saturday, May 20, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Volunteers will be on hand to provide historical information.

Gallier Hall was placed on the National Registry of Historic Places in 1974. To learn more about Gallier Hall, visit gallierhall.com.
