NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans has granted a permit to the 2023 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. As always, please take care in large crowds and report suspicious activity to public safety officials. For more information, visit the Jazz Fest website at nojazzfest.com.
“The City of New Orleans is once again ready and prepared to safely and successfully host hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors for the 52nd Annual Jazz and Heritage Festival,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “For the past 50+ years, this festival has given a national stage to New Orleans music, food and culture. Last year’s festival garnered the most attendees since 2019, which was when we also had the highest numbers of attendees on-record since Hurricane Katrina. It is vital that we continue to make opportunities available for our local artists and culture bearers to thrive. I want to extend a huge thank you to our unified command of local, state and federal public safety partners for keeping our people safe, as well as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation and its sponsors for continuing to preserve our rich, unique culture that resonates across the globe.”

Traffic
Expect road closures, traffic delays and heavy pedestrian traffic during the event. The New Orleans Police Department will restrict vehicle traffic around the festival and additional intermittent street closures might be required as crowd size warrants.
Parking
Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring surrounding streets for illegal parking.
- Don’t block hydrants, driveways and sidewalks
- Don’t park within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop sign
- Call 504-658-8100 for parking enforcement
Transportation
Bikes
Bicycle parking areas are located adjacent to the Gentilly Pedestrian and the Sauvage Street Pedestrian festival entrances. Blue Bikes will also have drop zones at those entrances.
RTA
Riders this weekend are strongly encouraged to use the #48 Canal Streetcar line as the first option of getting to and from festival grounds with the #9 Broad-Napoleon, #31 Leonidas-Gentilly and #91 Jackson-Esplanade serving as useful alternate bus routes.
Download the LePass app to plan your trip, check service alerts, purchase fares and track your bus or streetcar in real-time. For up-to-date service information and more, visit the agency’s website at www.norta.com or call the Rideline (5 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily) at 504-248-3900.
Due to heavy pedestrian and vehicular activity, the City of New Orleans recommends that residents avoid driving through the Fairgrounds area if not involved in festivities. Residents and festival attendees are encouraged to use rideshare, public transportation and bicycling to attend Jazz Fest if possible.
Shuttle
The Jazz Fest Express provides continuous round-trip transportation between four departure points and the Fair Grounds. The shuttle operates all eight days of the festival from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
