NEW ORLEANS — NOPD announced Devona Dolliole as the new communications director. Dolliole will serve as head of the NOPD Public Information Office, developing and implementing a strategic communications plan to encourage community engagement and ensure effective media relations.
“Devona’s commitment to public service and years of government communications experience make her uniquely qualified to serve as the bureau chief of our Public Information Office and lead our communications effort,” said Interim Superintendent Michelle Woodfork. “The mission of the NOPD is to keep our communities safe and key to that effort is having trust and a mutual respect between us and our citizens. I am confident Devona will be effective in executing a communications strategy that ensures NOPD is proactive and responsive.”
Dolliole is a native New Orleanian with more than 25 years of experience in public affairs and executing communications strategies at the local, state and national level. Most recently, she served as director of communications for the Downtown Development District where she worked collaboratively with DDD departments and various partners to drive the development of downtown New Orleans. Prior to the DDD, she served as communications director for the City of New Orleans in the administration of former Mayor Mitch Landrieu.
Dolliole has also served as national director of specialty media for the Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign, managing the development and implementation of an outreach plan targeted to the base constituencies as well as serving as a national spokesperson. Other prior positions include communications director for the Congressional Black Caucus, deputy national press secretary for the Gore-Lieberman presidential campaign and a consultant for various political campaigns.
