NEW ORLEANS — The Mayor’s Neighborhood Engagement Office today announced its preparations to launch its next cohort of the Civic Leadership Academy (CLA), an engaging, eight-week program that provides residents with an in-depth look at City government.
Participants will learn about various aspects of local government, including the structure of government, finances, public works, operations, public safety and economic development. Each of the academy’s interactive sessions will be led by representatives from City departments or guest lecturers.
Eligible participants must be a resident of the City of New Orleans, at least 18 years old and actively involved in a neighborhood or business association. Eligible participants may apply here. There is no fee to participate; however, there is a substantial time commitment.
Applications will be received until Friday, March 10 at 5 p.m., or until capacity is reached, at which time applicants will then be placed on a waiting list.
CLA will meet every Thursday, beginning Thursday, March 30, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., through Thursday, May 18, in the Enterprise Community Conference Room located on the 8th floor of City Hall (Room 8E10).
Refreshments will be served during each session, and a closing ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the eight-week program on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
