The summit is free and open to the public and will bring together public safety professionals and community members from a broad spectrum of disciplines to work together to address crime reduction in New Orleans.
“The summit represents an opportunity to open dialogue between our public safety team and community members in order to share strategies, listen to residents’ concerns and recognize our successes,” said Mayor LaToya Cantrell. “The summit will delve into areas prioritized by the public like our youth and their education, the role of behavioral and mental health, faith leaders addressing crime, how social media impacts violence and more. In addition, the summit will have a resource fair and serve as a job fair for all of our City departments that are hiring.”

The participation of public safety professionals across multiple local, state and federal agencies, coupled with City officials and community members, demonstrates the strong collaborative effort necessary to fight crime holistically.
The Summit is being held to engage the community and increase public awareness of ongoing local and national crime fighting strategies and initiatives to build public trust.
