Historical renovation of building to house Easton’s new 9th Grade Academy
NEW ORLEANS —
WHAT: Warren Easton Charter High School will hold a groundbreaking for its new High School expansion project housing the top-rated, open-admission school’s Ninth-Grade Academy. The school will now be able to accommodate 100 more freshmen in the remodeled building, for a total of 350 9th graders. The renovation is expected to be completed in August of 2022 for the upcoming 2022-23 school year.

WHY: Warren Easton, the top-rated open-admission public high school in Orleans Parish, purchased the former Meadows-Draughon Business College at 3026-30 Canal St. with the hopes of expanding its in-demand program.
The five-story, 22,534 square foot building will be historically renovated as an annex for its freshman class and the school will be able to admit 100 more students. The original, 109 year- old campus will continue to house its 10-12th grades.
The building is being renovated by The McDonnel Group, LLC with Manning Architects.
