NEW ORLEANS — Bureau of Treasury – The City of New Orleans is holding its annual tax sale on Oct. 21–23. Taxpayers who have delinquent property taxes exposed to the tax sale (tax years 2022, 2023, and 2024) should remit payment to the Bureau of Treasury to avoid the tax sale.
Online payments for taxes exposed to the tax sale are being suspended during this time. Taxpayers are also reminded that any delinquencies for years prior to 2022 must also be satisfied before payment can be applied to the years exposed.
The Bureau of Treasury offers several different ways to make tax payments.
Please note that accepted forms of payment after October 14th are CASH or CASHIER’S CHECKS ONLY to reduce processing delays.
Here are some options:
- If remitting your payment with the tax sale notice using the scannable bill and the enclosed envelope, mail to: City of New Orleans, Bureau of Treasury, Department #165025, P O Box 62600, New Orleans, LA 70162-2600.
- Failure to include the department number may cause a delay in processing or the postal service may return the parcel.
- Accepted form of payment is cashier’s check ONLY.
- If remitting payment without a bill stub, mail to: City of New Orleans, Bureau of Treasury, 1300 Perdido Street, Room 1W40, New Orleans, LA 70112.
