NEW ORLEANS – WYES-TV announced this summer the station began filming a national cooking series that the organization shares promises to showcase New Orleans’ cuisine and cultural influence at the highest level.
The series, “Dook Chase: A Chef’s Journey,” follows Chef Edgar “Dook” Chase the grandson of the legendary Leah Chase, a James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award recipient whose name is synonymous with excellence, hospitality, and the soul of Creole cooking.
From the storied kitchen of Dooky Chase’s Restaurant – recently honored with the James Beard Foundation’s America’s Classics Award – the series promises to share Chef Dook reintroducing the flavors, stories and artistry that define New Orleans cuisine to a national audience.
This 26-part series began production in June 2025 and will premiere across the country on public television in Spring 2026. Along the way, Chef Dook has been traveling across the Greater New Orleans area, stopping at iconic institutions and hidden gems that tell the story of our city’s culinary soul.
