Transforming Gender Dysphoria into Euphoria One Haircut at a Time

The Left Brain Group & Dresscode Project are giving back to the marginalized LGBTQ2S+ youth & community for pride with free gender-affirming haircuts. “This life-changing event allows those to see themselves for the first time.” The ‘gender-free haircut club’ is a transformative experience that shifts one’s gender dysphoria toward euphoria.

NEW ORLEANS — Dresscode Project a non-profit with the mission to educate and empower hairstylists and barbers to give people haircuts that help them look the way they feel, is teaming up with The Left Brain Group to bring The Gender Free Haircut Club to New Orleans, on June 25, 2023.

The Gender Free Haircut Club is Dresscode Project’s signature event providing FREE Gender Affirming Haircuts to the marginalized LGBTQ2S+ youth and communities; traditionally performed throughout the year by Dresscode Projects’ 550+ Salon Alliance Members, and in 2022 during their inaugural Gender Free Haircut Club Day. The Dresscode and Left Brain collaboration will continue to expand its presence in 2023 with its first ever satellite location in New Orleans welcoming hairdressers from all over the world to participate.

“We envision a world where every hair salon and barbershop is a gender-affirming, safer space for LGBTQ2S+ clients. For many queer folks, the professional beauty industry has always been considered a safer space but we still have a long way to go with education, acceptance and understanding and it’s our mission to make sure we continue forward momentum,” said Kristin Rankin (they/them), Founder of Dresscode Project.

The Gender Free Haircut Club satellite will also be a celebration of New Orleans queer culture and commerce showcased through live DJ entertainment, drag performances, curated vendors and organizations within the LGBTQ2S+ community.
