NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation, in partnership with the Office of Resilience & Sustainability, is encouraging Orleans Parish residents to dispose of used cooking oil responsibly this holiday season. Improper disposal of cooking oil, such as pouring it down the drain, can cause significant damage to the City’s sewer infrastructure, leading to costly repairs and environmental hazards.
Residents can drop off used cooking oil for recycling at the City’s Recycling Drop-Off Center at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave.
Drop-offs will be accepted at the Recycling Drop-Off Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following days:
- Saturday, Nov. 29
- Saturday, Dec. 6
Used cooking oil must be dropped off in a sealed container for recycling. Residents are allowed to dispose of five gallons of cooking oil per day and must present a valid identification card with an Orleans Parish address or an Orleans Parish brake tag on their vehicle.
Note: Businesses and organizations are not eligible for Recycling Drop-Off services.
