METAIRIE – Care Associates will host an open house on Jan. 7 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., offering family caregivers an exclusive preview of its new Senior Adult Day Health Care (ADHC) Center before its official opening on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Located on Houma Boulevard near East Jefferson Hospital, the center addresses a critical gap in workforce support for the estimated 252,000 unpaid caregivers across Louisiana who collectively provide 420 million hours of care annually—valued at $6.7 billion.
“Caregivers don’t just need compassion—they need infrastructure,” said Dr. Ricardo Febry, founder of Care Associates and a board-certified internal medicine physician with more than 26 years of experience in geriatric and end-of-life care. “Adult Day Health Care allows families to remain employed, productive, and healthier while ensuring their loved ones receive professional care and supervision.”
A Solution That Supports Families and Employers
With more than 95,000 Louisianans age 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease, the ripple effects extend far beyond individual households. Working caregivers miss work, reduce hours, decline promotions, or leave the workforce entirely—creating significant costs for employers and the broader economy.
Adult Day Health Care offers a preventive solution. Unlike traditional “daycare,” ADHC provides health-licensed daytime care with structured routines, on-site nursing support, medication administration, nutritious meals, and meaningful social engagement—particularly for older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease or cognitive impairment.
“High-quality ADHC reduces absenteeism, supports workforce retention, and delays costly institutionalization,” said Dr. Febry. “It’s not just compassionate care—it’s economically smart.”
Coordinated Care Model
Care Associates was founded to integrate medical care, palliative services, hospice, case management, and non-medical support into one coordinated model. The new ADHC center expands this mission by providing proactive, physician-led support before families reach crisis.
The January 7 open house will allow caregivers to tour the facility, meet staff, and learn how ADHC can fit into their family’s care plan while maintaining their professional responsibilities.
