NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans and Family Center of Hope today announced that The Anchor – New Orleans Youth Assessment Center Open House and Fall Festival will take place on Thursday, Oct. 30 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Family Center of Hope, located at 4137 Washington Avenue. The Open House and Fall Festival is free and open to the public.
The Anchor provides a unique opportunity to provide prevention and early intervention support. It provides a safe, supportive place where young people, ages 10-17, needs are assessed and addressed, as well as connects families to the right community services- such as counseling, food or housing support, and youth programs.
“The Anchor reflects what’s possible when community and government come together with a shared vision of supporting our youth,” said Criminal Justice Commissioner Tenisha Stevens. “Together, we’re building pathways to healing, opportunity, and brighter futures for the next generation of New Orleanians.”
“We’re giving young people a new beginning not a record,” said Reverand Pat Watson, Chief Executive Officer of the Family Center of Hope. “The Anchor creates a single door of opportunity where youth can get help and not handcuffs.”
At the Open House and Fall Festival, attendees can expect live entertainment, family- friendly activities, local resources, tours of The Anchor, meeting the Family Center of Hope staff, and more! Members of the public are encouraged to register to attend here.
The Anchor – New Orleans Youth Assessment Center is part of suite of investments by the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice Coordination, determined in partnership with the Youth Justice Collaborative, to transform youth justice in New Orleans, seeded by American Rescue Plan Act funding.
