The Broad Theater is located at 636 N. Broad St. After the film, Anderson, Sandy Rosenthal and Jeannie Tidy will be on hand for a 30-minute Q&A before gathering in the theater lobby for a meet & greet and further discussion.

Attendance is free but a reservation is required. Seats can be reserved at levees.org.

About the film

Hurricane Katrina struck on Aug. 29, 2005, claiming nearly 1,400 lives and causing an estimated $201 billion (2024 CPI) in damages, making it the deadliest and costliest hurricane in United States history. “Leading Ladies of Hurricane Katrina” tells the powerful and often overlooked stories of women who made a difference for their communities, city, state, and region.

The film features Louisiana Governor Kathleen Blanco, Sandy Rosenthal (founder of Levees.org), Jeannie Tidy (founder of Community Visions Unlimited) and LiLi Stahler-Murphy (creator of the Ground Zero Hurricane Museum).

“These women stepped forward in unimaginable circumstances to serve, guide, and rebuild,” said Anderson. “Their leadership left a permanent mark on Louisiana’s history, and may their stories continue to inspire.”
