NEW ORLEANS – Krewe Mosaïque will roll through the French Quarter for the third time on Jan. 17. The parade will follow a 15-block route, starting at Armstrong Park at 6 p.m. and ending at St. Phillip Street.
Krewe Mosaïque was created by members of parading groups including …and Boleyns, the hATTAS, Krewe de Mayahuel, and Krewe of Conus in 2023 as a way to celebrate the beautiful artistry and talent of New Orleans marching krewes. Each krewe hand makes their floats, costumes and throws with their own individual concepts.
“The result is a colorful collection of local artists and unique dancers with their own distinct looks that come together to create a beautiful mosaic,” said Krewe Captain and co-founder Terese Aiello.
Lucky viewers may receive one of the krewe’s signature throws, a hand-decorated mosaic tile created by each individual krewe. The family-friendly parade rolls in the French Quarter early in the Mardi Gras season, so families and tourists who can’t be here the two weeks before Fat Tuesday can experience a taste of New Orleans’ Carnival culture.
This year’s parade will feature new marching krewes, including The Great Ratsby and The Magical Krewe of Exotique, plus The Legendary Order of the Casket Girls and Krewe du Fool – who hosts their own April Fool’s parade and The Mermaid Parade.
“There will be several new art sculptures and walking puppets this year for parade goers to enjoy as well,” said Aiello. “We also have a slightly longer route so there will be plenty of great places in the Quarter to enjoy the show.”
Viewers can expect handmade throws, illuminated human-powered contraptions, beautiful costumes, and more. This year’s parade features a total of 14 walking groups. The procession will be led by Bone Soir who will carry the krewe’s tile signs and banners. Subkrewes this year include The Weather Girls, Krewe of Heavenly Bodies, Krewe of Nyades, Mondo Kayo, Haus of the Rising Dragons, and Order of the Crescent Crinum.
